European ETF market reaches new high, Lipper research finds
The European exchange-traded fund (ETF) market reached a record high of EUR180.12 billion in the first quarter of 2010, representing an 8.01% increase, according to new research from Lipper.
Average monthly turnover for Q1 2010 was EUR32.44 billion, up 22.84% from the EUR26.41 billion recorded during the same period in 2009. The report added that the increase was “not surprising” given the positive environment in equity markets and the boost in AUM.
Other findings from the report showed that ETFs remain concentrated, with the five largest exchanges responsible for 87.6% of the average quarterly on-exchange turnover.
