New Asia Pacific index series launched by FTSE and CNBC

The 100 largest firms in Asia Pacific are to be listed on a new index series from FTSE Group and CNBC, the companies have announced.

The FTSE CNBC Asia 100 Index will use FTSE’s global index standards and will be featured on CNBC’s news programmes. It will also be licensed to be used for ETFs, structured products and derivatives.

In addition to the main index, the two firms also launched country and industry-specific indices.

Paul Hoff, managing director of Asia Pacific, FTSE Group said: “Extending our collaboration with CNBC reflects the shifting focus of global investors towards Asia.

“These indices draw on the expertise FTSE and CNBC are known for in financial markets to provide investors with a deep understanding of the broader macroeconomic trends in Asia, while affording unique detailed insights into market drivers based on country and industry specifics.”

The launch of the index comes less than two months before the next GSL summit, the Asia Pacific Securities Lending Summit, which takes place on 16th September in Hong Kong. Click here for more details.
