Sherry and Kim join Cantor Fitzgerald prime services management team

Bob Sherry and David Kim are set to join Cantor Fitzgerald, taking up the roles of COO for prime services and director of prime services technology, respectively.

Sherry has worked in the financial sphere for more than a quarter of a century, filling roles at ING, ABN Amro and Furman Selz among others.

Kim joins Cantor Fitzgerald from Citigroup, where he was senior vice president of prime finance technology, in charge of management and oversight of Citi’s hedge fund technology services.

Before Citi, Kim worked at Lehman Brothers, where he was involved with a number of products, including the now-defunct firm’s client web portal, LehmanLive.

Noel Kimmel, Cantor senior managing director and global head of prime services, said that Sherry and Kim’s experience and pedigrees would be “invaluable assets” to the firm.

“Bob has built and managed equity prime brokerage divisions at Furman Selz, ING and ABN Amro that were widely recognized and highly regarded within the industry for exceptional execution and excellent client service,” he added.

“David’s proven ability to translate business concepts into technology workflow and applications will enable Cantor to offer clients best in breed reporting, data interfaces, execution capabilities and other innovative technology solutions.”

The two appointments are the latest in a hiring splurge by Cantor, which added almost a hundred sales and trading employees in 2008 and has hired 125 new professionals so far in 2009.
